Review of Pharaoh Cinema 4 Theater

Location: Independence, MO

Date of Visit: December 1, 2024

Movie Seen: Moana 2

Price: $35 for two people

Two tickets for a Sunday early afternoon showing was $20.

A large popcorn and soda combo was $15.

Cleanliness: The theater was renovated from its prior existence as a dollar theater when I was a kid. With the renovation came a sense of keeping the theater nice and clean. A far cry from the rundown dollar theater I knew as a kid.

Comfy-Ness: Theater seats are comfy. Again, updated from when I was a kid. The seats weren't reclining but the screens are above the seats. Cool vintage sign and marquee with a vintage vibe in the lobby. The walkway is like a portal to a different time.

Food Quality: Popcorn was delicious and fresh. No Freestyle Coca-Cola machines, but the soda had a perfect syrup-to-carbonation ratio.

Overall 16/20.

Unfortunately, this theater only has four screens and the showtimes are limited. Three a day on the weekends and one time during the week. It used to be a dollar theater, showing films at the end of their run.

Now, the theater does show new releases, but it’s limited in showtime capabilities. It’s important for these small theaters to stay in existence; one, they’re more affordable than large chains. Secondly, without the support, they will struggle, and the only theaters we will have are the large chains.

If you ever have the chance, you should check this theater out. Its limited showtimes keep it from being higher on this list.
